CLIENTS' PERSPECTIVE

1. How did you learn about Pilates and what made you start taking classes?
I learned about Pilates through a chance Google search, honestly I was looking for a job, not a workout but what I found quickly became my passion!
The pandemic has been the best thing for my lessons. I wasn’t good about working out regularly, but when the pandemic hit, I realized I had to schedule my workouts regularly and not leave them to chance. Now I workout regularly and I feel great.
I ADORE having virtual workouts, it makes seeing you accessible for me!
2. What has Pilates done for you?
After having four kids in six years, I felt like my body had been sent through a shredder. I found a Pilates book and started doing the exercises every night. I felt my body start to get stronger immediately. It was amazing.
3. What’s your favorite exercise?
I love the Boomerang.
4. Why do you choose to do your workouts with me at Pilates Andrea?
I love working out with Andrea because we’re the same kind of nerdy! Before working out with her, I had never had an instructor who valued my inquisitive spirit, I was just written off. I love feeling validated!
5. What would you say to someone who tells you they are interested in taking Pilates classes?
Pilates is literally for EVERY body.
6. How often do you take Pilates classes?
Twice a week.
7. What other physical activities do you do besides Pilates and do you feel Pilates has helped you in these activities?
Occasionally I walk my dog, but I really just love to be a couch potato. (If I’m being completely honest.)

1. How did you learn about Pilates and what made you start taking classes?

I was looking for something other than yoga and I took a few group Pilates classes but wanted one-on-one training. I started with Andrea beginning of 2019 and loved it. When COVID hit I was worried I wouldn’t be able to continue training with her, but she already had a zoom setup for her long distance clients and I was able to keep my weekly session via zoom and actually really liked it! I felt just as motivated and loved doing mat work and felt that Andrea could focus just as well via zoom as in her studio. It was/is a very positive experience.

2. What has Pilates done for you?

Pilates has helped my balance, my core strength, my flexibility. I remember my first session with Andrea on the reformer and there were exercises I thought I would never be able to do. With Andrea’s wonderful training, I have improved so much and feel so much better!

3. What’s your favorite exercise?

My “favorite” exercise is probably the Jack Knife. It’s easy and hard at the same time. I love feeling like I’m a kid again when I could do that kind of move effortlessly! My least favorites (right now) are Swan on the barrel (in studio) and Swimming (at home one the mat).

4. Why do you choose to do your workouts with me at Pilates Andrea?

Why?!? Let me count the ways. . .seriously, in the beginning I didn’t realize I had hit the jackpot with Andrea. I found her on Yelp and her studio is only 5 minutes from my home, so I thought I would give her a try.. It didn’t take long for me to figure out that Andrea is a gem. Not only is she a wonderful person but her knowledge and expertise of Pilates is so impressive. She has an incredible eye as a trainer and her encouragement while correcting you is very positive.

5. What would you say to someone who tells you they are interested in taking Pilates classes?

I *do* tell people that Pilates is a deceptively difficult form of exercise BUT it is one of the most personally rewarding and healthy things you can do for your body. It takes concentration and dedication. . .which is a good thing.

6. How often do you take Pilates classes?

I take classes 2x/week in the studio and I do mat work at home 3-4x/week.

7. What other physical activities do you do besides Pilates and do you feel Pilates has helped you in these activities?

I’ve been an avid backpacker for years, mainly in the Sierra Nevada range, and Pilates has helped me immensely with my core strength and stamina. When COVID hit, I created a home gym, so I have a treadmill and rowing machine plus a stationary bike… Pilates has helped me keep my mind & body in the game and keeps me motivated to stay active. I can’t fit a reformer in my gym so I’m waiting anxiously for my Wunda Chair!!
