I was looking for something other than yoga and I took a few group Pilates classes but wanted one-on-one training. I started with Andrea beginning of 2019 and loved it. When COVID hit I was worried I wouldn’t be able to continue training with her, but she already had a zoom setup for her long distance clients and I was able to keep my weekly session via zoom and actually really liked it! I felt just as motivated and loved doing mat work and felt that Andrea could focus just as well via zoom as in her studio. It was/is a very positive experience.
Pilates has helped my balance, my core strength, my flexibility. I remember my first session with Andrea on the reformer and there were exercises I thought I would never be able to do. With Andrea’s wonderful training, I have improved so much and feel so much better!
My “favorite” exercise is probably the Jack Knife. It’s easy and hard at the same time. I love feeling like I’m a kid again when I could do that kind of move effortlessly! My least favorites (right now) are Swan on the barrel (in studio) and Swimming (at home one the mat).
Why?!? Let me count the ways. . .seriously, in the beginning I didn’t realize I had hit the jackpot with Andrea. I found her on Yelp and her studio is only 5 minutes from my home, so I thought I would give her a try.. It didn’t take long for me to figure out that Andrea is a gem. Not only is she a wonderful person but her knowledge and expertise of Pilates is so impressive. She has an incredible eye as a trainer and her encouragement while correcting you is very positive.
I *do* tell people that Pilates is a deceptively difficult form of exercise BUT it is one of the most personally rewarding and healthy things you can do for your body. It takes concentration and dedication. . .which is a good thing.
I take classes 2x/week in the studio and I do mat work at home 3-4x/week.
I’ve been an avid backpacker for years, mainly in the Sierra Nevada range, and Pilates has helped me immensely with my core strength and stamina. When COVID hit, I created a home gym, so I have a treadmill and rowing machine plus a stationary bike… Pilates has helped me keep my mind & body in the game and keeps me motivated to stay active. I can’t fit a reformer in my gym so I’m waiting anxiously for my Wunda Chair!!
