  1. HIiiiii! Excited about this workshop! I do have a question and would love to know your thoughts. It’s more on order really, but that kinda affects transitions, I guess, so maybe you won’t think I’m over in left field! πŸ™‚
So, I have a spreadsheet someone made me once of the different people and the orders they teach/taught. I notice in Romana’s order, the short box series comes right after the long box series. In Jay’s teachings, the short box series comes after tendon stretch. I was not taught by Romana but my comprehensive certification curriculum was written by two people that were taught by her, so I’ve always done short box after long box and taught my clients that way. It took me a bit to get used to moving it later in the workshops I’ve done with you, but I kinda like it. Since you were taught by both of these great people, I’m assuming you prefer Jay’s way? And if so, I’d love to know why? Sorry to be so wordy. πŸ™‚ Thanks!

    1. Hi Julie!
I’m excited for this workshop too πŸ™‚ Your order question is a good one. We should discuss this in class as well – I am making a note. I had the same journey to putting the short box later as well. Several of the moments of order “change” that I learned from Jay I experimented with in my own workout for a while – I liked the Short Box being later as well followed by Short Spine Massage. I still use the order I learned from Romana as well – there are just small changes. Please ask your question when we are in class if I forget. I think there are others that will have similar questions. And in the spirit of owning your workout these are so valid to consider. See you soon, xo

  2. Hello! Really enjoyed ‘correctly’ doing all the transitions today. They are tough and I have been Reformer LAZY on the in-betweens!

Quick question for everyone…I sorta feel silly asking but….you know when you go from lying down on the Carriage to sitting up and then take your legs and booty off to the side to stand up (depending on your order but … after Footowork, Frog/Circs, Coordination, Stomach Massage, etc.) … I have to use my hand “push off” on the side of the Reformer to get good enough momentum to whirl around on my butt to stand up… Perhaps I should just move my legs to the side…or?? I just really noticed it today…all the desperate assistance my hands were doing to get me up, down, around, etc. LOL!

Just curious how others are getting off the “off the Carriage” !! THNX!!!!!

    1. I should note *if straps are in one hand, they are handy for the whirl initiation (the above pertains to having nothing in hands πŸ™‚

    2. Corrie this is the same observation I was having! As I was working out and the transitions were on my mind, I really noticed when I pushed myself up with an elbow or a hand. How did that creep in there?? I think as we examine the efficiency and skills in our transitions we may all encounter a helpful hand or elbow we didn’t know was helping us up LOL… Also getting up off the carriage on the side you normally do not – very revealing ha ha … anyone else notice an extra hand helping you up?

      1. Yes, for sure I had BIGLY brain farts when getting on/off opposite sides but … I love that feeling! We’ll see what pops up on round #2!!!

        1. OMG me too! Whenever I decide to get on and off from the left side of the Reformer I literally forget and remember all the way through the workout LOL

  3. Andrea, I so enjoyed our class yesterday. SO much to learn. I hope I am not holding the class back as I maneuver to change my handles and straps. I hate this reformer!! The clinical height also makes some of the transitions a real challenge . I will work this week on trying to adapt the transitions we learned in class. Still, in order to use the proper handles, it’s a time waster changing them out from the foot straps, but there does not seem to be another way. That is why I changed the order. I saved Frogs and Circles and the Short Spine Massage till the end – that way I only have to make the changes from handles to footstraps once. What do you think of that idea? Thank you so much for your wonderful teaching.

    1. Hi Linda πŸ™‚
So glad you enjoyed the workshop on Thursday! No worries at all – finding the best transitions for you, your workout, your apparatus can take trial and error to coordinate. But as you plan them more in detail, they will become more and more easily a part of your routine. If you change up your apparatus in the future, you’ll adapt to the new Reformer in much the same way: planning and then repeating the routine you develop. And with the higher Reformer it will feel like you have to climb up there onto the box or carriage. Do your best. I like that you are working out a plan for the handles. Maybe you’ll use them sometimes and other times you’ll leave them out of it to work on more flow? Lots of options for you I bet. Let’s talk about the handles/straps adjusting for Short Spine, I like that you’re thinking about how to conserve the times you change them out. I like this idea, and when I see it in action over the next 3 weeks I can weigh in more. Thank you so much for your kind words on my teaching and I look forward to seeing you again on Thursday. Keep up the good work! xox
